FAQs

  • As a life cycle officiant, I do a wide variety of ceremonies and rituals, from weddings to baby namings, funerals, B. Mitzvah, transitions, and much more. I’m an experienced ritualist who can craft and creative rituals to commemorate your milestone moments. Click here to see the list of life cycle rituals.

  • Absolutely! While my initial training in this area was as a rabbi, I have officiated at a number of non-religious life cycle events, including weddings and funerals.

  • It depends on what the event is. For weddings, I will set up a “get to know you” meeting with couples and we’ll begin the process.

  • The length of the ceremony will depend on your preferences. In general, the wedding will be about 25-30 minutes including the processional. If you want additional readings or music that can often add a few minutes to the ceremony.

  • Yes! And yes! The wedding ceremony is specifically crafted to fit who you are as a couple, and creativity is encouraged!

  • A rehearsal is a great idea for the wedding party so that they know exactly how the processional will happen. Typically the rehearsal takes place the day before, run by the wedding planner or venue coordinator. If you prefer, I’m happy to come early to the venue and run the rehearsal for the wedding party.

  • Yes! I have done a number of secular weddings.

  • Yes!

  • Yes I do. I have found that what works best in these situations is if the other officiant and I can confer in advance of the wedding. That way we can best plan the flow of the ceremony.

  • Absolutely!

  • It depends on the ceremony. For weddings, my standard fee is $1200 (if that doesn't fit your budget, talk to me!). If I have to travel more than 2 hours, there will be additional travel expenses. In general, I ask for a 25% deposit to secure any date for a ceremony, with the remainder to be paid the week before the event. Ask me about fees for other life cycle events!

  • Yes I do! I’ve done a number of private B. Mitzvah services.

  • Yes I do! And I’m delighted to do it! I typically begin the tutoring process about a year before the service – but it can be longer or shorter depending on the circumstances. These sessions can be done via Zoom and are usually about 30 minutes. Contact me to discuss the fee.

  • The fee is $1800, which includes working with the student on their d’var Torah (speech), as well as all necessary rehearsals and run-throughs.

  • Yes I do. Based on which prayers will be done, as well as the specific Torah portion, I put together a prayer booklet that will be sent to the student’s parents well in advance of the service. This way they can add a cover, a welcome, or anything else they would like to add. Sending to the printer, the number of copies needed, etc., are the responsibility of the parents.
